Jesus is coming. It's the end of the world.

Look busy.
Throughout history humans have created "end of the world" scenarios. It must be a very human instinct as it was believable to men and women from BC through AD (CE?) to the modern world when otherwise normal people embraced the idea that society would come to a screeching halt because computers could not process the year 2000. Are we reassured by some kind of deadline? Are we whipped into activity when we would otherwise drift aimlessly through time?
I know I need structure, a time framework. That's why I find the Christian calendar so attractive with events and holidays throughout the year.
That's why I need to host a party before the house gets cleaned. That is of course of lesser magnitude than "going to hell", yet the same concept. Human beings crave a deadline.
Amen.
